Last month, my school's computer science teacher, Chuck Haibel, passed away suddenly. I met Mr. Haibel once, days before his passing. Even though I had no personal relationship with Mr. Haibel, this is the toughest story I have ever had to write. Reporting on such a sensitive topic for many on campus was daunting, but I knew Mr. Haibel's story was one that had to be told. The tears that were poured into this story, both mine and others', are what made it so important. When I recieved a message from Mr. Haibel's wife that the story was "beautiful" and honored his memory, I understood how important journalism is not only in keeping viewers informed, but in sharing meaningful stories of others.
