On Oct. 8, 2022, rapper Kanye West posted a viral stream of antisemitic comments on social media. In our print issue for that year, we had a section called "Yes or No," where we compared differing opinions side-by-side. My now Online Editor worked on the opinion stating that you can't separate music from an artist, arguing that West fans boycott his music. In light of his hateful messages, no staffers were eager to argue for the other side, so I stepped in to help. Working on this piece was anxiety inducing and stressful. Would I offend my peers? Did I articulate my true opinion well enough? In the end, I was proud of the argument I put together as it showed my honest opinion and pushed me out of my comfort zone.
